SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 33" CALIBER .58 RIFLED MANUFACTURED 1863. One of the most elegant rifles of the Civil War with full length dark walnut and varnished polished brass hardware. Vividly case colored lock and hammer, Rust blued barrel with saber bayonet lug . Blade front sight with 2 position folding rear rifle sight. Dated 1863 on lock and barrel. US Military inspection Cartouches on stock and barrel. Used extensively by State Militia's and US Military troops. Remington manufactured only 12,501 Magnificent Model 1863 percussion Zouave rifles between 1862 and 1865 Flayderman wrote “The Remington 1863 Rifle was one of the best-made and designed military arms of the entire Civil War era “ This Magnificent example presents about New with little or NO evidence of having ever been used, the finest speciman in my 58 yrs of doing business.

CONDITION. Like new with little evidence of use. Mint bore and retains most all factory finishes. Brass and lock still retain most all of the original lacquer preservative. The walnut stock is outstanding with a few minor impressions from storage.
