Description:
This is a very cool limited-production Ruger New Model Blackhawk Convertible in .38-40 Winchester and 10mm Auto that was made exclusively for Buckeye Sports for only one year in 1990.  This rare Ruger is in superb condition inside and out and comes complete with everything it shipped from the factory with including both the inner and outer boxes, all of the factory paperwork, both cylinders, and even the clear plastic shipping bag.  Introduced in 1989 by the now defunct firearms distributor Buckeye Sports of Ohio, this special limited-run Blackhawk went into production in 1990 with a total production goal of 5000 made.  Whether they actually made 5000 of them is not known, many believe that the total number made was a good deal less than 5000.  These special "Buckeye" Blackhawks came with two cylinders, one for 10mm Auto and one for .38-40 Winchester, both of which had never been offered together as a convertible package before by Ruger.  These revolvers were also custom-marked with the Buckeye Sports logo consisting of a Buckeye tree leaf cluster on the top strap.  Outside of these two unique features they were standard guns with a gloss blue factory finish on all of the steel parts, factory polished hammer-sides, a 6.5" inch standard weight barrel, factory adjustable target-style sights, and smooth American Walnut grips with black and silver Ruger medallions.  This particular example is serial number 611-01695, the 1695th example made.  This is a very minty gun that is near-pristine.  The factory gloss blue finish is bright and beautiful, rating 98%.  The only deductions we can find are from a faint drag-line that skips around the cylinder and a tiny spot of box wear on the underside of the trigger bow.  There is no such mark on the 10mm cylinder and it's our best guess that this drag line is a result of someone playing around with the gun and working the action rather than from actual firing of the gun.  The face of the .38-40 Winchester cylinder in the gun is spotless with no flash halos or powder residue, and the forcing cone on the revolver itself is pristine.  The gloss blue finish on the gripstraps is flawless and all of the pins and screws in this Ruger look like-new.  The factory polished bright sides of the hammer are shiny and clean with all of the original crossgrain still visible (they have not been polished after the fact).  All of the factory markings on this Blackhawk are crisp and clean, including the Buckeye Sports logo on the top strap.  The bore in the 6.5" inch barrel is spotless and mirror-bright with perfect, sharp rifling throughout from the forcing cone to the crown of the muzzle.  The chambers in both factory cylinders are flawless and pristine.  The original factory grips on this Ruger look like-new and are free from any chips, scratches, cracks, repairs, or visible wear.  Both grips are a perfect match to each other and fit the gun perfectly.  The action on this Ruger is incredibly smooth and precise, and it is in perfect time no matter what cylinder is in it.  All of the controls are in like-new, perfect working order, including the rear sight adjustments.  This special Blackhawk should still perform just as well today as the day it left the factory over 31 years ago!  If you have been looking for a rare investment-quality Ruger Blackhawk for your collection this beautiful Buckeye Sports Exclusive model would be a superb choice.  It is as complete as they come, and would be nearly impossible to upgrade from in any respect.
