U.S. MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION MILITARY PISTOL BY HENRY ASTON, MIDDLETOWN, CT. CORRECT MATCHING 1851 DATES ON TANG & LOCKPLATE. APPROX. 6000 OF 1851 & 1852 DATED EXAMPLES WERE MADE. THESE PISTOLS WERE USED EXTENSIVELY IN THE CIVIL WAR. ABOUT 14 1/4" OVERALL WITH 8 1/2" SMOOTHBORE BARREL. METAL PARTS HAVE TONED TO A GRAY GUNMETAL PATINA. LOCK SHOWS CRISP FULLY LEGIBLE MARKINGS. WALNUT STOCK IN VERY GOOD PLUS CONDITION SHOWING PROPERLY WORN FINISH AND INSPECTORS CARTOUCHE. BRASS FITTINGS HAVE TAKEN ON A NICE TONED COLOR. "W" INSPECTORS MARK ON TRIGGERGUARD. LOCK FUNCTIONS CRISPLY WITH 2 CLICK HAMMER. RAMROD ASSEMBLY IS ORIGINAL & INTACT. A FINE EXAMPLE OVERALL, AS PICTURED & FOUND.
