"Serial number 12347. Made in 1874. 45 LC with a 7 ½" barrel. Very nice clean later Ainsworth model. Metal is sharp with clear markings. Action works well. This gun was inspected by O. W. Ainsworth. This gun comes with a letter from noted Colt expert John Kopec. Mr. Kopec said this gun as one of 2307 issued to the State or Virginia and subsequently sold to arms dealer Herman Boker. Mister Boker then sold these to firms like Schuyler, Hartley & Graham and H. D. Folsom of New York. Mr. Kopec goes on to list minor alterations like internal parts replaced and he says the replaced grips are the finest he has ever seen. Very Fine Colt Ainsworth Single Action Army!
