Look for the gold '55 Chevy road sign! ~Trades and offers are always considered~ Outstanding First Generation Blackpowder Frame Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army "Etched Panel" Frontier Six Shooter Revolver, .44-40 WCF, mfg. 1883 with 7 1/2" bbl. This is a truly stunning antique Colt Single Action which appears to have had at least some professional restoration yet retains all it's correct components and is perfectly crisp top to bottom. I would say the barrel has certainly been refinished but the remainder of the finish looks original. If it was entirely restored it must have been done a very long time ago and by someone who really knew what they were doing, it's just a beautiful gun. The barrel shows 98% bright bluing while the ejector housing and cylinder retain 85%+ bluing just thinning to gray around the edges. The backstrap and triggerguard show 50% bright bluing worn to gray in the appropriate areas from handling. The frame and hammer retain 65% faded case color overall which is quite prominent in person. The edges are very sharp and surfaces smooth throughout. The walnut grips are flawless and have perfect fit and finish with no marring whatsoever. Matching original serial number "98564" stamped on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap with partial number "8564" stamped on the cylinder and barrel. Sharp three-line patent dates with crystal clear barrel address, "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" etched panel, and "44" marked ahead of the cylinder pin. The triggerguard "44 CF" marking is a little faint but mostly present. Original long-knurled hammer, trigger, screws, full blade front sight, and ejector with brass spring. The ejector rod appears to have been milled slightly as to provide less interference with the chambers. The action is perfectly crisp and functions flawlessly with four distinct clicks. Excellent bore with bright sharp rifling front to back. Likewise all six chambers are clean and bright. The gun is accompanied by a scanned copy of a factory letter which confirms it's configuration and original shipment to Hartley & Graham in 1883. A real stunner that must be held to be appreciated! Jeremiah Johnson Trading sells antique firearms manufactured prior to 1899 and muzzleloading blackpowder reproductions only.
