ORIGINAL JACOB KUNZ PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA PERCUSSION HALF-STOCK SPORTING RIFLE CA. 1835-40. Rifled 33” octagon .45 caliber sighted barrel signed “J. KUNZ” and “PHILADA”. Lock engraved with floral and border scrolls and signed on plate “J. KUNZ”. Characteristic Jacob Kunz German silver patchbox with very ornate engraving which he was known for. Engraved barrel tang with integral silver plate engraved with “AWP” script monogram. Walnut stock with checkered wrist and German silver wedge plates. Blued steel mounts and butt plate and engraved toe plate. All original in very good condition. Never restored in any way. Barrel with much original brown and excellent bore with slight almost unnoticeable bulge at mid-point which can really only be seen on the inside. Stock with the original finish with loss of wood along the forend which is restorable. Original brass capped hickory ramrod. In very nice condition save the few problems all fixable. One of the early percussion era great Pennsylvania and American gun makers.
