Description:
Serial #365119, .45-70, 32 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a nice looking rifle that has an overall plum-brown patina on the metal, with some mottled brown on the breechblock and mild cleaning marks on the lockplate. The ramrod, bands, breech latch, and Buffington rear sight retain traces of original blue. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly. The walnut stock has numerous handling marks and bruises present in the flaking varnish finish, with visible traces of a cartouche on the left side of the wrist, and some drying cracks at the rear lock screw on the left side. The left side of the buttstock has a still legible, painted unit and rack number: "Co. F / 3rd (Regiment) / (Gun Number) 30". This is a nice looking Trapdoor, that would make a neat display piece.
