Description:
***  SOLD    ***   A fairly rare Cogswell & Harrison bar action hammergun with beautifully figured nitro proofed Damascus barrels and a highly figured stock and forearm. Nicely engraved and the hammers fall below the shooter’s line of sight when cocked. Mechanically sound, this Coggy will make a great gun for clays or game. Number 15958. Made circa 1885 it weighs 6lb 8oz.   ***   The 30” nitro Damascus barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” cartridges, have extractors, and are topped by a solid, concave game style rib. The left barrel is bored 0.736 and has a constriction of 0.011 for a tight Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.022. The right barrel is bored 0.736 and has a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.020.   ***   The stock is stocked in a highly figured piece of English walnut and the forearm is topped by an amber tip. Checkering on both is in good shape. Stock dimensions are 14-3/4” over a 1" hard plastic butt plate by 1-5/8*’ by 2-1/8”. Cast off 3/16" for the righthand shot. There are a few handling marks.  ***   This fine Cogswell & Harrison hammergun is tight on face and functions flawlessly. Screws are timed. A stylish Damascus hammergun that you will proud to uncase at the range or carry afield.  Isn't it time to reward yourself?  ***   Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing. Come and see this great double and other fine firearms at the MacNab and Heritage Guns booths at the Southern Side by Side Championship & Exhibition April 22nd – 25th, 2021 at Deep River Sporting Clays in Sanford, NC. ^^^^^ Enter the MacNab / John Dickson & Son Scottish Round Action event at the shoot.
