Description:
This is a very nice all-original World War 1 German Luger 9mm pistol made by the DWM firm in 1915.  It is all-matching except for the magazine and 100% functional.  The German Luger is one of the all-time classic semi-auto pistols, the shape and look of it well-known by gun collectors and the average Joe alike.  Along with the Colt Single Action and the Colt 1911, the Luger is one of the most famous guns ever made.  Used by all branches of the German Military in both World Wars, the P-08 Luger was a prized trophy for the opposing soldiers.  This particular example was made during World War 1 in 1915 by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) and could have been captured at that time or during/after World War 2, when many of the WW1-production guns were still in use.  It still retains all of it's original factory finishes and original numbered parts.  The original blue finish is still attractive and glossy for the most part but does show some wear and tear from combat use.  Most of the actual finish wear is on the high-edges and on either side of the muzzle from being carried in a holster, as the grip straps are still in very good condition.  There is also a great deal of original yellow straw finish remaining on the small parts, particularly in the protected areas where the golden yellow finish is bright and shiny.  All of the original factory markings are fully intact and legible, and all of the German Military proofs are intact and visible.  The bore in this Luger is in great shape overall, showing only a touch of frosting in the grooves with strong and sharp rifling throughout the barrel.  The original grips on this DWM are in average to good condition, free from any major damage or repairs but showing wear to the checkering, some oil staining, and some small areas of chipped away wood.  The grips match each other very well and are perfectly fit to the gun, with both sides tight to the frame and both grips numbered to the gun on the reverse.  The action on this Luger is slick, smooth, and precise.  All of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order, and there is no doubt that this Luger will still function just as well today as it did when it left the factory 106 years ago.  We stripped this Luger down to make sure all of the numbered parts are matching and the internals of this pistol show little to zero mechanical wear.  Despite being 106 years old it still has 95% of it's service life remaining.  This 1915 DWM Luger comes with one modern reproduction magazine that is in perfect working order.  If you have been looking for a nice all-original Luger for your collection that you can enjoy as both an investment and occasional shooter, this 1915 DWM would be an excellent choice.
