Description:
Priced reduced on this classic WWI U.S. Army military revolver with 5.5" barrel. The bore is excellent with strong rifling. The blue has approcimately 99% of its original blue. The underside of the grip is marked "U.S. Army" near the lanyard ring. The revolver shows little wear and is in overall excellent condition except for the partially ground U.S. Markings (but most still readable), and is priced accordingly. After WWI, the U.S. government cancelled its orders for the 1917 Colt, so to offset its loss, Colt Manugacturing refinished those new revolvers and sold them commercially. Colt also stamped new serial numbers inside the frame, as this piece has, SN 2711xx.
