Description:
WW2 RARE USMC MK. 2 "THIN HANDLE" FIGHTING KNIFE, 5th GENERATION, CONDITION RARITY!

This superb, (5th Generation USMC KA-BAR) example remains in mint condition! The blade is the "One-Side-Marked", seldom seen variation. In Bill Walters fine extensive book; "U.S. & Allied Military Fighting Knives" Vol.2, you'll will find this and all the many variations in large color pics & descriptions. This example was USMC Issue! The pristine mint blade has the correct light grey "Bluewash" finish. There were 3 handle thickness variations, with this one being obviously the "Thin Handle". The leather washer handle is tight, and supple. The crossguard, and pommel are tight as well! The scabbard remains in excellent+ pliable condition. It is also named on the reverse; "Ralph E. Keyes". Anything leather, canvas, orgear had a very short life in the Pacific. The humidity, Jungle Rot, heat, monsoons in the Pacific Island Hopping Campaingns took their toll. To find any scabbards, etc. in decent, or better condition, is no simple task.
