Description:
SHILOH SHARPS, MADE IN BIG TIMBER, MONTANA, 1874 SADDLE RING CARBINE IN .45-70 CALIBER, #6XXX, MADE 1980s. This example is in nearly new condition with the exception of a few very small handling marks in the wood. It is the standard military style carbine with 22" barrel and sling ring and bar. The barrel has the "OLD RELIABLE" stamping (like the originals) as well as the early C. Sharps marking. The receiver has the Shiloh, Big Timber, Montana markings. This was before Shiloh and C. Sharps had a parting of the ways (both are still located in Big Timber, MT). Nice straight grain walnut stock with fine color to the wood, case colored receiver, butt plate, hammer, lever etc. Has the correct Lawrence ladder rear sight with slide (like the originals). Shiloh has never made many of this model and they are hard to find now. Interestingly, Shiloh made the carbines just like this one for the movie Dances with Wolves!
