#5019 & 5020, 12 Bore Pair, E. J. Churchill Gunmakers Ltd., Orange Street, Gunworks, Leicester Square, London: A Churchill Pair of Boxlock Ejector 12 Bore Regal Model Game Guns, Made in the Golden Age of 1934, Both guns with 25" Ejector Dovetail Lump Barrels with a Hidden Third Bite, Proved in London at 1 1/8 ounce, Both were 2 1/2" chambers but opened to 2 3/4", Both guns with Assist Opening; The # 1 gun at .730 .011 & .011" (Imp.Cyl & Imp.Cyl ), 2 3/4" chambers, Wall thickness on the right at .029" and the left barrel at .028"; The # 2 gun at .730 .011 & .025" (Imp.Cyl & Imp.Mod ), 2 3/4" chambers, Wall thickness on the right at .028" and the left barrel at .029", Double triggers, Splinter forend with an Anson frontal release, Straight hand stock at 14 1/8 x 1 1/2 x 2 1/8" over a near full face checkered butt, 1/4" Cast-Off for the right hand, Swept comb which makes these guns point like a dream, Great 12 Bore weight at only 5 lbs. 15 oz., They both handle like a 20 bore, Decent wood on both, 95% coverage of Regal Grade period rose and scroll engraving, Numbered 1 & 2 in Gold, Both sets of barrels reblacked and now at 96%, The stocks have been re-oiled but not sanded and both remain at 85%, The checkering is at 90-95%, The barrels inside & out remain in excellent condition without a ding or pit to be had, The striking on the barrels are excellent, It is cased in the original maker's leather cornered "V. C." leather trunk with the proper trade labels. The barrels remain on the face. On walk up bird shooting over dogs 25" barrels work absolutely as efficient as longer barrels in the hands of the average upland hunter. If you can prove me differently, I will give you this pair of guns. Here is a pair of 12 bores that weigh less than the average 28" barreled 20 bore game gun. This is a very nice pair of 12 Bore game guns from the Golden Era of British gunmaking.

E. J. (Edwin John) Churchill set up shop in 1891 at 8 Agar St. Strand, London. They moved to Leicester Square in 1925 and then to Orange Street in 1934 in Leicester Square; E. J. Churchill died in 1910 & Robert Churchill died in 1958. In 1960 Atkin, Grant & Lang were operating on 7 Bury Street and by 1971 the firm was operating as Churchill, Atkin, Grant & Lang at 7 Bury Street and in 1976 the business was moved to 61 Pall Mall, St James's. E.J. Churchill Gunmakers restarted in 1985 by Mr. Don Masters, and to this day is on the West Wycombe Estate and have been there since the late 1980s.
