Description:
SOLD PENDING PAYMENT.  THANK YOU
Indian Wars US Army Colt 1873 “Cavalry Model” in original unaltered condition.   Overall this is a very crisp, well-marked, and very attractive example of an Indian Wars Colt Single Action Army US Cavalry Revolver.  The gun is 100% complete, correct and original, and somehow appears to have escaped the refurbishment rebuilding, and barrel shortening that so many martial SAA Colts Revolvers were subject to during the twilight of their service life. Untouched and well-marked SAA Colt Cavalry Revolvers are very tough to find these days. Now down to the “NITTY GRITTY.”

Colt 1873 Single Action Army Cavalry Model Revolver “DFC” (David F. Clark) inspected, 1880.
Serial number 56945 is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap.  The cylinder, arsenal inspected is a very old replacement.  The wear-finish is consistent with the rest of the gun.  Nice even grey patina with evidence of original bluing throughout especially in protected areas.  Case coloring is still visible on the hammer face and sides.  NO pitting what’s so ever with usual interior barrel frosting with very nice visible rifling.  Nice aged grayish patina throughout. The action is crisp and correct.
The cylinder is marked “0528”, “DFC,” “P” along with Colt inspector markings “H & D.”  Cylinder flutes bluing still present.  Not uncommon to find replacement cylinders on these old cavalry revolvers especially one manufactured during the Indian Wars.  The cylinder is a military arsenal replacement more than likely in the 1890s or even sooner.
The barrel still retains some bluing under the ejector rod housing. “P” and “DFC” are stamped on the underside of the barrel along with Colt inspect markings “H & G.”  The hammer slot has “H” Colt factory inspector mark and there’s the correct “P” proof throughout. The “BIN” or “ASSEMBLY” number “1001” on the loading gate matches the frame number stamped under the trigger guard.  Lastly, the grip has a nice correct “1880” stamped on the left grip above “DAL” (David A. Lyles) with a cartouche.  There’s also a faint cartouche on the right side.  The grips are original, oil-finished, one-piece with absolutely no evidence of sanding.   They are in very good condition.    Once again just a very nice original Colt SAA Cavalry Revolver you’ll be proud to own.  All additional parts are correct for this Colt 1880 Cavalry Revolver.    I got into this beautiful revolver at a good price so I’m able to sell low.  Please email if you have any questions or desire additional pictures. I do take PayPal with an additional 3% fee.  I usually ship USPS priory mail insured.  Your preference though.  Thank you for looking.
