Description:
A Civil War era used 11mm Pinfire, with a 6 1/4” barrel with an oxidized bore. The metal surfaces of this revolver have mostly toned to a mix of gunmetal gray and dark gray-brown patina showing some scattered old oxidation staining and light pitting. The cylinder retains a few flakes of original bright blue and the metal surfaces show some simple light foliate embellishments that remain mostly intact. The cylinder is stamped with an antique Belgian proof mark and the left side breech flat shows “INVENTION / LEFAUCHEUX”. The smooth walnut grips remain in very fine condition showing scattered light handling marks, and the early guns had a bag shaped grip like this fine gun. Some of the screws are older replacements and the triggerguard also appears to be an old period replacement, common repirs for a battle field used gun. The action seems to function well mechanically in single and double action with solid timing and lock-up. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
