RARE, WINCHESTER, U.S. MDL. 1885, WINDER MUSKET, CAL. .22 SHT. SER. 124383. IN 1904 COLONEL C.B. WINDER ORDERED WINCHESTER LOW WALLS FOR USE AS TRAINING RIFLES. THIS IS ONE IS IN LOVELY SHAPE. IT HAS RETAINED ABOUT 75% OF THE ORIGINAL BLUE. THE BULK OF THE LOSS IS ON THE RECEIVER WHERE IT HAS TURNED TO A BLUE GRAY PATINA FROM HANDLING. THE BARREL HAS RETAINED ABOUT 98% WITH NO RUST SCRATCHES OR RUB MARKS. THE STOCK IS REALLY QUITE NICE, RETAINING ABOUT 90% OF THE ORIGNAL FACTORY LACQUER. THE THE BUTT DOES HAVE A CHIP MISSING BEHIND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER. THE BORE IS QUITE BRIGHT WITH SHARP WELL DEFINED RIFLING AND SOME LIGHT SCATTERED FROST. ALL PARTS ARE CORRECT AND IT SEEMS OPERATE PROPERLY, THE BACK STRAP HAS THE WINCHESTER LOGO AND A "FLAMING BOMB" ORDINANCE STAMP OVER "U.S.". THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MILITARY COLLECTOR TO GET A RARE PIECE OF U.S. ORDINANCE AT A MODEST PRICE. $1495.***
