The Model 69 Combat Magnum is the first L-Frame, Smith & Wesson® Double-Action Revolver chambered in 44 magnum. The Model 69 has a 5-shot cylinder, making the gun more compact and lighter than the full-sized N-Frame model 629. The 5-shot cylinder places the bolt notches between the chambers, instead of directly over the chambers, to retain full strength with magnum loads in a slimmer gun. The Model 69 uses S&W‚‚s 2-piece barrel design, with the actual barrel inside of an outer shroud, and the top strap and barrel rib are fully serrated to minimize glare on the sight plane. An aggressively checkered hammer on the Model 69 provides a non-slip surface for single-action cocking, and a smooth combat trigger affords quick, double-action work. The single-action trigger pull is light and crisp, and the double-action pull cycles the cylinder smoothly. The red-ramp front sight is pinned into an integral sight ramp, and the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance and low maintenance when hunting in the backcountry, and a synthetic rubber grip provides a sure hold in any weather. The frame and cylinder are glass bead blasted to reduce glare, and the revolver is fitted with synthetic combat-style grips. The Smith & Wesson Model 69 Combat Magnum Double-Action Revolver has great balance, and is light and trim enough to carry comfortably all day.
