Early-1800s Antique EAGLE POMMEL Militia CAVALRY Sabre SCABBARD Ivory Grip
War of 1812 Vintage Saber
Here we present an antique Eagle Head Pommel Militia Saber, made circa the early-19th Century. This was a very popular style before and after the War of 1812. This sword is a handsome piece and features, in addition to the eagle head pommel, a fluted ivory grip, beaded langet, light engravings on the blade, and a curved cavalry type blade. The scabbard is of leather.
The overall condition is good. Solid hilt with the handguard remaining tightly seated and the pommel sits firmly. Lightly etched blade with remnants of gold plating remains. The scabbard is in good shape though it is shrunken or undersized to the blade.
