Description:
This one of a kind Browning 22 auto rifle was a no expenses spared project commissioned by a true lover of the custom gun trade. The Browning 22 Auto was one of the clients dream firearms as an under privileged boy. 50 years later as a wildly successful business man he was bent on having the finest quality custom firearms built and engaved by the countries best craftsmen and artist. This is one of those firearms.
The metalwork on this rifle at first glance is modest but a closer look will reveal many hours of sculpturing work around the trigger gaurd and the rear top portion of the reciever. The factory engraving on the reciever was  removed via filing, stoning and handpolishing. All exterior surfaces of the remaining original metal was stripped, detailed and hand polished to a mirror finish .
Anyone who has ever stocked one of these unique takedown rifles knows" its easier than it looks". The through bolt that attaches the buttsock to the reciever is at a severe angle limiting the bottom stock lines in the pisto grip area, while the magazine tube "tube"  if you will, limits the top line of the stock. My design on this stock with its much higher comb and heel and more open pistol grip push those limits to the max.
The wood is marble cake California English that we cut back in the 90's. Choosen for it's somewhat wild nature with a density well suited for very fine checkering and carving  A Jerry Fisher cap covers the thru bolt. Beaded pancake cheek piece and sculptured loading port. 14 inches to a completely restored and refit Beisen trap door butt plate that opens for access to the magazine tube. The forend has sculpturing and beading at the reciver end and forend tip that literally took days and days. The finish is hand rubbed oil with many overcoats of tung oil left to dry for many weeks.

Even though the client passed away before this project was completed, the project can be completed by another "patron of the arts". This rifle is completely operable as is and ready for checkering and engraving. Museum piece or fine hunting rifle thats up to you.
