"Collector grade" and rare 1903 (serial # 8369) Hunter Arms Company L.C. Smith "Pigeon Gun" 12 gauge with just knockout "chain damascus" 30" barrels, choked full & full, three position safety and beautiful engraving and wood, remaining in "just about mint" condition. As stated in the factory letter, Mr. William C. McKnight inspected this Pigeon Gun, as he did most of the higher grade L.C. Smith shotguns in the early 1900s, and it shipped on May 9, 1903. Production began in 1893 and Pigeon Guns were manufactured until 1913. Some of the Pigeon Guns were fitted with damascus steel barrels at an additional cost. Also, this is the only L.C. Smith shotgun that was referred to as "Gun" rather than "Grade" by the Hunter Arms Company. The top of the barrel rib is hand engraved HUNTER ARMS CO., MAKERS, FULTON, NY with a pigeon engraved on the top rib extension.
