We offer you a “RARE” Thieme & Schlegelmilch Under Lever (Nimrod) Combination Gun 16 Gauge over 8x72JR with a Wing Safety.
Thieme & Schlegelmilch was a business located at No. 40 on the “Steinweg” which was the main street in Suhl Germany with the shop having been added to the back of the house. Interesting in that it was the first street constructed with cobblestone pavement. Since there were several gun makers in Suhl at that time with the last name Schlegelmilch, they used “Nimrod” as their trade mark. That was taken from the “Old Testament” and was also called “The great hunter of the Lord”.
This combination gun wears 27 5/8 inch barrels with both having excellent bores with no issues. On top is the 16 gauge barrel with a 2 ¾ inch chamber over the rifle barrel which is clearly marked with the caliber “8x72 JR / .318”. It wears a fully matted rib with a folding rear barrel sight. There are four holes on top for what I would say is for some type of scope mount. The bluing shows thinning but no rust or pitting. The receiver is silver in color and shows some light engraving as shown. The action is tight on face and locks up fine with no issues. On top is a “Wing Safety” which functions just fine. On the tang is a folding elevation adjustable sight that works as it should. It has an adjustable singe set trigger for the rifle barrel which functions just fine with no issues. The forearm is in fine condition but does have an old crack in it as you can see. The butt stock has a L.O.P. of 13 7/8 inches over the replacement butt plate. There is one small crack at the rear of the upper tang with the rest being solid with no issues. It features a cartridge trap as shown clearly in the pictures. We have shown all the markings as well as the complete gun in the pictures for your consideration.
This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $65. It will be shipped taken down in a foam lined double walled cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe.
