MODEL 1890 IN HARD TO FIND AND VERY DESIRABLE .22 LONG RIFLE CHAMBERING, #685XXX, MADE 1923. The Model 1890 pump rim fire rifle is usually found in .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 WRF with very few made in .22 Long Rifle. (The Model 1890 was replaced with the Model 62 pump and almost all of these were made to handle .22LR) This is a good solid example that retains nearly all the barrel blue with only very slight dulling from age. All barrel markings are sharp and clear including the "MODEL 90 - 22 LONG RIFLE" marking. The magazine tube is mainly aged to brown with good blue on the magazine retaining bands. The receiver blue is evenly mixing plum brown with much good blue still evident. Matching numbers on lower tang and receiver. Excellent forend and butt stock. the bore is a little dark with good rifling all the way through and some scattered very light surface corrosion. Original sights and tight action. One has to be careful in purchasing a Model 1890 in .22 Long Rifle as this chambering wasn't offered until the 610000 serial range in 1919. Most .22 LR Model 90s will have replacement barrels in the Long Rifle chambering and often show the "Oval P" proof mark indicating either a mail order barrel or a replacement barrel put on by Winchester. this example was originally made in .22 Long Rifle. A good honest 98 year old example. not often encountered.
