Description:
This is an amazing custom Savage lever action rifle for the hunting and rifle looney. It's a custom built 99F in .338 Federal. With ballistics comparable to a 30/06, but in a short action, and a lever action to boot! Try that in a Winchester 94! It comes with a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8 if you want it, or deduct $300 from the selling price and I'll remove the mounts, rings, and scope. This rifle shoots Barnes 160 grain ttsx very, very well but I was never able to carry it on a hunt. I have never fired factory rounds in it.
It has a fully coated matte finish for non-glare and with a beautiful satin finished cut-checkered Savage stock and action from the late 1950's era with no tang cracks, serial # 953,xxx. With this serial number the action is perfectly suited to this later cartridge and functions exactly like it should. Has the more desirable lever safety. Also has a thick, soft pad so recoil is negligible. It shoots wonderfully and is a joy to handle as well as accurate.
This rifle is literally ready to rock, no hassles no worries. Plug and play, and is in excellent condition.
