This is a really neat takedown rifle that's been in my safe for many years. I've not had the chance to hunt with it but I have fired it a few times at the range for fun and all is well and it functions great.
With so many Savages being priced out of the stratosphere they are just too valuable to drag through the mountains or the swamp anymore. This is not a numbers matching gun so this should appeal to the practical among us that want an excellent hunting rifle without the worry of damaging a pristine original. It's really the best of both worlds, a super cool gun from the 1930's to hunt with w/o the anxiety.
This rifle has a 24" factory Savage 30-30 barrel marked Chicoppee Falls. The bore is great. The forearm takedown mechanism works perfectly. The stock is not cracked and not drilled, nor is the receiver drilled for scope mounts. In short, this gun has it all, coolness, practicality, function, and just the right amount of patina. That's why I've held onto it for so long, it just feels good and handles great. But, time marches on, so it's time to let some go. You'll love this rifle it's a real gem and really hard to find in 30-30.
