The metal surfaces of this reconverted-to-flint musket have aged to a plum-brown patina with the expected light pitting around the breech and scattered small spots of old light oxidation and light handling marks from the years. The removable fenced brass pan and front sight blade display a warm mustard patina and the cock with heart-shaped hole, frizzen and frizzen spring appear to be aged more-modern replacements while the other parts of the lock appear to be correct and retain vivid fire blue with numerous small inspection marks. The lockplate markings are correct and it along with the barrel tang are dated “1840” though the date on the tang is much softened. The American black walnut stock rates about fine with a few small chips along the ramrod channel, a few of the expected scattered light handling marks and some light finish wear on the buttstock. There are no visible cartouches on the stock. The front sight blade was regulated during the period of use, a correct trumpet-head ramrod with threaded end is included and the action is strong and crisp..S/H $45....2nd FIREARM SHIPS FREE WITH THIS ONE!
