Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. Palmetto State Armory is one of the most well-known manufacturers of AR-15s and parts and accessories. This is one of their early AR-47 uppers mounted to the usual PA-15 lower receiver. The AR-47 is essentially the AR-15 built to handle the classic Soviet AK-47 round, the 7.62x39. This concept came about at the time of introduction due to the low cost and high availability of the Soviet cartridge compared to the more standard 5.56 NATO round. The other reason behind chambering the AR-15 for the AK round is that it is much more powerful than the standard version. By comparison, the 7.62x39 utilizes a 123 gr .30-caliber bullet versus the NATO cartridge’s 62-grain .22-caliber bullet. Although the .22-caliber bullet would have a flatter trajectory, the heavier .30-caliber bullet is more wind resistant. The rifle is in excellent shape. There is some powder residue caked on the exterior of the muzzle and the bore is a little dirty. The quad rail retention ring has some light rust spots on it as does the rear of the barrel. Again, these are very light and do not exhibit any serious pitting. There are some small scratches on the rear left edge of the charging handle. Given how close the scope is to the receiver, it can be difficult to apply the correct grip to operate said charging handle. An extended model is recommended. A Magpul MOE pistol grip and adjustable butt stock has been fitted to the lower receiver. The rifle is equipped with an Magpul flip-up front sight, but due to the placement of the scope for proper eye relief, there is no rear sight. The scope is an iProtec 3-9x32mm, which features an illuminated reticle in two colors: red and green. The rifle uses a C Products 10 round magazine. The device at the end of the muzzle is not a suppressor. There are many aftermarket options available for the AR-15, probably more than any other type of firearm on planet Earth. What you see above can be modified into almost anything you can think of. This rifle would make an excellent home defense gun but could just as easily function as a hunting rifle, as the 7.62x39 cartridge is in the same league as the famous .30-30 making it suitable for hunting deer at close ranges.
