Description:
Serial #1220, .44 WCF (.44-40), 25 1/4" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some light-moderate freckling and pitting within the grooves. This is a handsome, youth-sized musketoon, that has 80-85% of the original blue on the barrel, with the balance either toned to mellow plum-brown, or silvered, especially at the muzzle. The action retains about 70-75% of the vibrant, original color case-hardening that has acquired a freckled, plum-brown patina on the balance, as well as some scattered areas of mild freckling and pinprick pitting. The breech-block, hammer, frame pins, and bracket have turned to a mixed gray-brown patina, and the trigger guard has a mottled brown color. The barrel is extensively marked with Spanish proofs, "P.C. IRIONDO EIBAR 1927 / No. 1220 CAL. 44". The military-style buttstock and full-length forend are in very good condition, with minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about the old reapplied finish. The rear barrel band appears to be an old replacement due it being a bit undersized, however the original cleaning rod is still present. The action lock-up is tight, and is fully functional. This is a neat little, military style Rolling Block, chambered in a great American cartridge, and built to fit a youth. FFL or C&R
