Payment Types Accepted: Postal Money Order Description: This came strait out of the attic, the blade is minty, and fits in tight to the scabbard, a slight dent on the scabbard tells you this was a used sword, they tighten them to keep them from rattling around and giving away that they were in the area. The scabbard has a nice brown patina as does the brass basket. The grip has the original cording , and a touch of the copper wire , I have kept it in as found condition , if you wanted to replace the leather , I can recommend an expert , but I like them in as found condition. This has the double hanger , and is considered a heavy calvery saber, what they called a wrist breaker. These were carried in the Mexican war also and were carried in the Civil War by persons such as General Philip Sheridan & General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who had both sides sharpened to increase combat effectiveness, luckly this one only has the factory edge. This would be just in time for the Christmas Civil war collector. Sword overall length 43'' BLADE 36'. Amazing condition for a sword over 156 to 176 years old. The German sword makers at this period were considered the top in blades in the world.
