Manufactured in 1963, This Browning (Belgium) Auto-5 features a 28 inch barrel choked "Full", factory high-polish gloss-blue finish on all of the metal parts, a floral and scroll engraved receiver, a polished in-the-white bolt, a gold-finished trigger, a left side mounted magazine cut-off switch, a triggerguard mounted safety, a 2.75" inch chamber, a 4-shot magazine tube, and a gloss-finished two-piece hand-checkered pistol grip Walnut stock set with a factory-installed recoil plate. The earlier production guns have a round knob pistol grip which is much preferred over the squared knob aesthetics of the later production guns. The original factory gloss-blue finish on the receiver is still in great condition but does show various signs of wear/handling and very lighy surface rust that has long been removed. The factory markings and engraving are still sharp and crisp. The factory gloss-blue finish on the 28 inch barrel is in great shape with the exception of standard wear marks and some scratches along both sides of the barrel as seen in the provided pictures. The factory gold finish on the trigger is still visible but is mostly worn off of the face of the trigger. The factory blue finish on the magazine cap has discolored over time as seen in the photos, and the gripping ribs around the cap are in great shape, showing only one small spot of marring. The bore is bright and shows no signs of imperfections. The factory original stock and forend are in overall great condition. The factory checkering on the stock and forend is sharp and shows little to no signs of marring but the gloss finish on both does show signs of finish checking. There is a small crack on the bottom of the forearm just ahead of the receiver as seen in the provided photos. This is very common on these vintage Auto-5s. The action on this Auto-5 is tight, smooth, and is in 100% mechanical condition. All of the controls on this Browning are in perfect working order, including the bolt release, safety, and magazine cut-off. This Auto-5 would make an excellent hunting shotgun or a nice addition to any collection.
