Description:
Marked on the lock plate ahead of the Maynard tape primer is "Harpers Ferry" and "US". Back part of the lock is dated 1859. It has the date 1858 on top of the bbl. This is a 3-banded musket with a 42" bbl. One of 12,000 guns converted at the Harpers Ferry Arsenal. Original wood is sound and solid with a few minor dings and mars but no splits or cracks. Definitely would benefit from a good cleaning. Metal is in VG cond with a light gunmetal grey color. Some patina starting to appear on the lock plate. Original ramrod and complete with correct bayonet.
