Description:
Marlin Model 90. This is one of the neatest little American Shotguns ever built. It was designed by Ole Horsrud in 1936 and the .410 came out in 1939. Sears Robuck needed an O/U gun so they optioned the Model 90 as both a Ranger and a J.C. Higgins. Marlin also sold the gun at the same time with no Sears markings during the same timeframe. Due to a 3 digit serial number with no prefix I think this gun was built in 1939-40. There were three fore end styles over the course of the manufacture which lasted until 1957 and this one is the second style. This is a 2 trigger gun and is very light at 5lbs 11oz, quick handling with a round top barrel and a stippled strip the full length. This is the cleanest one I have ever seen and has been fired very little if at all. The frame is clean with only the lightest of handling marks, blue and screws are all original and untouched, this one is engraved with the pointing dog in grass. The barrels are 26" with a matted round top, perfect bores and blue. Measurements: .409/.406 Chokes .005/.009 or about Skeet/Mod. The stock is a light pistol grip with no chequering as some of the earliest models were seen as, 14 1/2" length of pull to a Marlin butt-plate. 08991 MASS $2800.00
