Colt’s Smallest Semi-Auto, Made in 1931
Here we present a C&R Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket Pistol, made in 1931 in Hartford, Connecticut with a production run from 1908 through 1948 with over 420,000 produced. Production was paused between 1943 and 1945 so Colt could support the war effort. This was another John Moses Browning design, and it was Colt’s smallest semi-automatic pistol offering. It was marketed as a small concealable firearm which could be easily tucked into a vest pocket for unobtrusive carry. It is chambered for 6 shots of .25 ACP. At the end of the production run, an improved redesign became the Baby Browning, which is still in production today. This one would have been carried into the Roaring Twenties and well beyond by gangsters, good guys, and ne’re do wells!
The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish and case colors. The action is excellent. The bore is in fine condition with sharp rifling and bright surfaces. The grips are in nice condition.
