Description:
.451 bore, #1628, 30 inch barrels, percussion, "gun metal" finish, "ALEX HENRY. 12 SOUTH ST ANDREWS ST EDINBURGH PATENT NO 1028" and numeral "2" on barrel rib, burl checkered pistol grip stock,  surface crack from tang to left lock, beautifully engraved iron furniture including patch box, safety locks, appears to be a small "patch" at the toe of the stock, missing an oval escutcheon on bottom of stock, original ramrod, sling swivel and eye, with original case.

According to John Dickson & Son (holding the A. Henry records) this is second of a pair, delivered to George Charles Spencer-Churchill (1844-1892), Marquis of Blandford, brother of Lord Randolph Churchill and uncle of Sir Winston Churchill. Also 8th Duke of Marlborough, styled Earl of Sutherland and a British peer.

Condition: excellent bores, Henry Patented rifling, appears to be 2 complete turns in 30 inches, wood has shrunken slightly with age, a few nicks allong forearm, excellent mechanically, excellent marks and engraving, new nipples.
