Description:
This is a model 1903 Mannlicher Schoenauer carbine chambered for the fantastic 6.5x54 MS cartridge. I would say that this was professionally restored at some point. There is some sort of a ram's head relief added to the top of the barrel(see photos). I have no idea why, except that maybe there was some sort of scope mount there at some point. There is no sign of rear scope mount on the left side of the receiver that would have been the other location for the other mount. So I have no idea what it means. The front sight blade is not original. It is low wide and flat. The barrel is 19-3/4" long. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no pitting. The rifle shoots great and I have hunted with it for years. Everything functions perfectly. If you are a collector of rifles in original perfect condition, this rifle is probably not for you. If you want a very attractive, shootable, 100+ year old rifle that handles like a dream, has a butter smooth action, this is it. I am not a dealer, so if your dealer will only receive firearms from one, it will cost an additional $25. A curio relic license is okay for this one. I will NOT ship to CA.
