Payment Types Accepted: United States Postal Money Orders Description: Colt SAA RKO Movie Gun, Cal. 44-40, re-nickel gun with a cut 5 ½” barrel, the bore is about a seven out of the ten, Manufactured in Hartford Connecticut in 1878 on top of the barrel one line Colt address on the side of the frame is three line patent address on the trigger guard is 44 Cal. Comes with two piece plastic stag grips that the movie industry used the grips are in very good condition. Mechanically in good condition with a tight cylinder lockup in single action this is an all matching serial number gun except for the cylinder there is no number on the cylinder on the right side of the frame is stamped RKO and on the bottom of the backstrap is stamped RKO. Comes with a factory letter this gun was shipped to J.P. Moores Sons New York, New York on February 18, 1878 in a 50 gun shipment. This Colt is clearly stamped “RKO” on the side and was used by Republic pictures. They were one of the earliest movie companies to start making “Talkies”. Perhaps it was used in Fort Apache or some of the many B Westerns that they made. Tim Holt, Geo. O’Brien, Robert Ryan, and even John Wayne were among the RKO Westerns stars. Although cut off to make a fast draw configuration, it has a rare gain twist barrel. Finished in Nickel with plastic stag grips, it made a fancy and flashing gun for the movies. This single action was originally shipped to J.P. Morres & Sons of New York in February 1878 it is not known how it made its way to RKO ownership.
