Payment Types Accepted: Description: On Hold Sale Pending Circa 1840's to 1850's percussion double barrel (looks like approximately 12 gauge) shotgun by A.W. Spies of New York. A.W. Spies was a dealer/maker in New York City in the mid 1800's. The firm was a major retailer for arms and people heading to the frontier. The 31" double barrel is dark brown with scattered pitting and a bead front sight. The dark walnut stock has a copper wire wrist repair. Both percussion locks are marked A.W. Spies Warranted and appear to be engraved. The brass but pate and trigger guard are also engraved and are now dark brown from age and still work. Overall fair condition.
