Description:
On Hold Sale Pending.US Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor 45-70 caliber army rifle, serial number 96763* (star).  The star usually signifying early guns rebuilt after hard use in the Indian wars then later sold or given to states for militia use. The 32.5" barrel has much of its original finish turning brown, with both original front and later buffington rear sight.  The bore looks fairly good but shows wear.  The 3 click functioning lock is marked US Springfield with the American eagle the finish turning brown. The low arch breach block is marked US Model 1873 and is tight with a crisp ejection system. The 2 band walnut stock is in good condition but does have a hairline crack behinde the lock.
