On Hold Sale Pending. Only 3400 1869/1870 cadets were produced by Springfield for use at West Point and other military academies. The cadet length barrel has both front and rear sights and a very good bore. The lock functions fine and is marked US Springfield and is dated 1863. The breach block functions fine and is marked US 1870 with the Eagle head. The very good dark walnut stock is has a nice unsanded finish with a visible but faint ESA cartouche and boxed L firing cartouche. All metal parts are still in the bright with a brown patina in places. Overall a Very good hard to find Springfield. Matching serial numbers are present on the barrel and receiver.
