This revolver was part of a production run of around 21,000 revolvers, delivered to the U.S. Army 1862 to 1863. It is the first run with a 6" barrel, later models came with an 8" barrel. The gun retains approximately 40% blue with most loss on the cylinder and barrel, which have turned a brown patina or starting to turn a brown patina. The Walnut grips are in very good condition, fit well and have perfect cartouches on both sides. the gun has matching serial numbers on frame, cylinder, hammer, and barrel. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, with a few spots of corrosion. The action functions, but the trigger has to be forced forward due to a weak trigger return spring. A nice example of its type.
