Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Handsome A. Francotte 30E sideplated boxlock ejector with the most elaborately engraved action, sideplates, fences, and trigger guard we’ve ever seen using gamebirds, waterfowl, floral motifs, and intricate scroll engraving. The left sideplate and bottom of the action depict various waterfowl interspersed with a bold floral motif. Partridges are displayed on the right sideplate and a pigeon is engraved on the trigger guard. The fences are profusely scroll engraved and also have rarely seen fluted carving. What a gun! Double triggers, auto safety, side clips, cross bolt, and fluted fences. Serial number 321xx was made circa 1900 and weighs 7lb 4oz.   ***   The 30” barrels are made of Martin Siemens steel and are factory chambered for 2-3/4” shotshells. The bluing is in good shape with a few minor marks and scratches from normal usage and shows a mild patina. Bores are shiny. The right barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.032 for Full choke. The left barrel is bored 0.730 and also has a constriction of 0.032 for Full choke. The barrels are black powder proofed but can be shot with low pressure nitro loads from RST, B&P, and Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from nicely figured European walnut. There are a few handling marks and the checkering shows a little wear. Stock dimensions are 14-5/8” including a ½” recoil pad by 1-1/2” by 2-1/2”. Cast off for the righthand shot.  ***   Most Americans are not aware of the quality of Francottes. As such they represent a great value for the astute gunner. Beautiful engraving, highly figured European walnut and great handling all at a super price. Snap up this classic Francotte before someone else does!   ***   Please note that the photos are part of the description. I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense.
