It has a pewter spring loaded cap. There is an old repair on the cap. The opposite end has a screwed in "button" for filling. There are 2 proof marks that are similar to a Brown Bess. There was some paint put on years ago and where it has worn away there seems to be some sort of marking. This is a very interesting item and would be a great addition to any Colonial collection.
