Description:
1938 Mauser manufactured P08, Luger chambered in 9mm. This Luger was captured by the Russians during World War 2. It was refurbished and stored until it was re-issued to one of the Eastern block countries. (probably East Germany) A new barrel was installed, (note the crown N proof and no serial number on the barrel) "VOPO" plastic grips were also installed. It appears that a eastern block police proof was peened when the gun was removed from service. (located under the take down lever). All of the components that are serial numbered do match. Except that the toggle pin serial number appears to have been peened out. And the firing pin isn't serial numbered. The magazine is post war and the base has been serial numbered to match the pistol. The finish on this gun looks really good considering it's long, colorful service history. All of the controls function as well and we believe this will make a great shooter. These VOPO, Lugers that were imported by Sarco continue rise in price as many collectors seek one to use as a shooter.
