A true piece of our history this wonderful Battlefield Rifle presents with 44 RF. 24" octagonal barrel. EXTREMELY Low SN: 568. Blued finish, smooth walnut stock. Rare Frank Wesson patent markings and Kittredge retailer markings on the barrel, partially obscured by the rear sight dovetail. Includes ladder rear sight, Roughly 4,500 of these military pattern Wesson rifles were produced with Kittredge & Co of Cincinnati selling many of them to the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas and Ohio for use during the Civil War. Frame has a very nice brownish gray patina. The Barrel markings are partially obscured by the rear sight. Overall this is a very early made exciting and rare battlefield weapon that has seen more action then Justin Beiber. This will make for an excellent addition to any Civil War or True Antique Firearm display. You can either collect Quality or History and every once in a while you get to do both.
