Payment Types Accepted: cashier check postal money order Description: SALE PENDING....For sale is a very scarce Colt Model 1860 Army, with a factory cut 2 3/4" barrel in .44 caliber. Serial number 81828, manufacturer date is 1862. This Colt was shipped with an original 8" barrel, used by the Military, returned to the Armory at Springfield (U.S. is stamped on the trigger guard), re-issued to the service and often taken home by the trooper or officer who carried it after the war. The revolver was probably then returned to the factory to be modified to its present barrel length of 2 3/4". These were known to have been carried by lawmen, and bank robbers. They were also known to be called a Bankers Special. This Colt 1860 is the three screw model with a round cylinder, with approximately 50% scene on the cylinder remaining. All stamping marks are correct. There is no evidence of the inspector's cartouche still on the grip, although this could have easily been worn away over time. Good tight action, perfect cylinder indexing, good crisp markings, very nice wood, and excellent metal with a smooth even gunmetal gray color. There is no rust or pitting, except for the usual spotting around the striking portion of the hammer. Very rare and unique Colt. Inquires are welcome. Shipping will be the actual cost.
