Description:
This M1 Carbine is in what I describe as pristine condition.  I am not real big on the cosmetics of a firearm though; mostly function.  This rifle I am selling likely never experienced field action based on the condition of all of the metal and wood parts.  Places on a rifle that ususally show wear or use are not evident with this rifle.  There are still small amounts of cosmoline in places and there are no arsenal rebuilt stampings on the underside of the barrel; only an S on the flat surface under the chamber.  My rifle has the integrated operating spring tube and not the detachable tube.
I have completely dis-assembled this rifle; except the escutcheon and the gas piston nut, due to the likelihood of doing damage.  I have test fired 30 rounds through this rifle to assure proper functionality.  All of this carbine's parts have been inspected to insure originality as verified by using Roger Larson's book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine".  This book has 829 pages of information, measurements, and descriptions, as well as over 4,000 high quality photographs to reference.  There are a few very good books published about the M1 Carbine but I use only this book to determine correctness and to maintain consistency during the survey process.
I have taken nearly 200 photos of this rifle and have completed 3 data sheets of this rifle that I can email to you if you are seriously interested.  Winchester made it easy to identify their parts because all were stamped at time of manufacture with a W, with the exception of the PW inside an oval border, stamped on the top of the barrel at about 7".  The parts not stamped have been determined being correct for its period of production based on manufacturer, date, part type, measurement, and/or rifle serial number.  Many times M1 Carbines are advertised as having the correct parts.  Do your homework before buying.                        Included with this rifle are an original WWII sling, oiler, 15 round magazine pouch and two USGI 15 round magazines.  The included carry case and field manual are high quality reproductions.                                                                                                                                                                                             I have learned my lesson when buying to get as much true information before "pulling the trigger" and buying.   Winchester M1 Carbines are one of the most highly collectible and also one of the most mis-represented; both intentionally and unintentionally.  Like other M1 Carbines the Winchester has several unique markings and production types of parts that make them slightly different.  Only Underwood made more of its own parts at 35 compared to Winchester at 15 along with the General Motors Saginaw group.  The Winchester Carbine stock has a few unique identifying factors as does the barrel set.
I purchased this Carbine a long time ago from a retired member of the military.  Considering its age it is in pristine condition throughout.  The stock has no cracks, splits, or repairs and any evidence of handling marks are visible only by holding the stock at the right angle in the right light.  The Cartouche marks are very clear, but no W stamped in the sling well; only the under side of the hand guard. Included with this rifle are an original WWII sling, oiler, 15 round magazine pouch and two USGI 15 round magazines.  The included carry case and field manual are high quality reproductions.  An M1 Carbine such as this is seldom found.
FREE SHIPPING AND FULL INSURANCE INCLUDED within the 48 contiguous states to the verified valid FFL or C&R licensee of your choice.  The sale and shipping of this rifle must comply with all state and federal firearms purchase and shipping regulations.  Although fully functional this rifle carries no expressed or implied warrantees.  Preferred payment is USPS Money Orders or a mutually pre-arranged method.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
