1933 Banner Mauser, 98K DRP "Deutches Reich Post",This gun was ordered for and issued to the "Deutches Reich Post" or German Postal Service during the Weimar period of German history. This one was made the year Hitler came to power in Germany. 7.92x57mm Mauser, s/n 58140, rifle, brl length 24", good plus condition, bolt action, Stock is marked on the left side at butt in two circles "D.R.P." with some numbers beneath overall stamping is present but in some areas illegible. The left side of receiver is marked "MAUSER-WERKE A.-G. OBERNDORF A/N" with the left side of the receiver ring bearing crown over B, G, U & N proof marks. Top of the ring has Banner Mauser logo over 1933. Numbers are matching on the barrel, receiver, floorplate and triggerguard. The bore shines bright with standard crown muzzle, adjustable rear sight graduated to 20 and fixed front. Leather sling shows some deterioration with metal surfaces showing thinning to finish throughout with a few light tool marks present. Walnut stock shows assorted scratches and indentations most noticeable toward butt stock end. DRP was the Third Reich Postal Services. Bayonet is marked 1937 with Wauffen markings clear along with makers markings, blade fits well on rifle.
