Iisting one of my hunting rifles, Winchester model 1895, has the standard 24" round barrel , this rifle is equipped with a Lyman 21 ( climbing Lyman ) peep sight. Some came from factory as such this one was like this from the time I acquired it a number of years ago along with the sling swivels. Myself I like a sling, these rifles weight in around 8 lb's. serial number 416931, puts Mfg date at 1925. Browning's last design for Winchester being built from 1896-1931, the Great Depression and the coming of age bolt action rifles kinda ended the lever era. These were designed in the beginning as a military rifle for use with pointed ammo in a box magazine. Short lived as such as the 1898 and 1903 Springfields were adapted by the U.S. Army. They did see pretty good use with the Texas Rangers, Pinkerton Agents and county law agency's as many old photos will attest to that. Rifle has a nice bore and is a fine shooting piece. Action is nice and tight. Pictures show the metal condition and condition of the wood. She's not been a safe Queen but taken care of by owners that cared. I believe around 426 k of these were Mfg’d, the most were built for the Russians. Helped Winchester out while times were tough here at home.
