Military Rifle C&R With MUM, MONOPOD, BAYONET, and ANTI-AIRCRAFT SIGHTS! Here we present a Japanese Toyo Kogyo Type 99 Arisaka Military Rifle manufactured circa 1943 at the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal in Hiroshima, Japan. The Type 99 was one of the standard bolt-action combat rifles to be used by the Japanese Empire during World War II. At the start of its production, it proved a reliable and robust rifle. But, the closing noose of the Pacific Theater soon brought about dramatic changes in its production methods, often leading to a subclass weapon. The Type 99 had several variants that included the Short Rifle, Long Rifle, an airborne variant and a dedicated sniper model. Production lasted from 1939 into 1945 before ending with Japan's surrender. The maker Toyo Kogyo, of Hiroshima Prefecture was a subsidiary of the Kokura Arsenal and the rifles are not as common as the Kokura and Nagoya made rifles. The factory was located in an area protected by the topography, with a substantial hill between ground zero and the facilities. The direct blast did not damage the factory but killed 400 of its workers and with the shortage of skilled labor at that point production probably ended then. As mentioned, the arsenal was undamaged, but did become a location for hospitalization and care for the wounded after the bomb was dropped. The overall condition is very good. Original finish with the mum intact. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with nice rifling. The stock shows use. There is a long, thin, stable crack along the bottom of the forestock between the legs of the monopod. There is also an old, deep gouge just behind the middle barrel band. The original screws for front and middle barrel band are absent. The front barrel band has a replacement. The numbers match on the bolt, receiver, and bayonet lug. The bayonet is numbered differently. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 26 inches. Caliber: 7.7mm Japanese Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
