Description:
General Specs: Mauser, Year 1943, 9mm, 33.7oz
Serial Number: 2834e

When introduced into Army service in 1938, the P38 was a very advanced design. Once loaded, the P38 could be safely decocked and kept at the ready with a chambered round. With no safety to release, the operator just had to squeeze the purposely heavy double action trigger to fire the gun; thereafter the gun's recoiling slide would cock the hammer for a easier single action trigger pull. This system has become a common element in many modern pistols, for example, the Beretta 92 and Sig Sauer P229 series.

The Walther P38 was in production for the Warmacht between the years 1939-1945. This pistol was manufactured by Mauser in 1943. Walther and Speewerk also produced the P38 during this time. Of the 1,277,680 pistols produced by all three companies, Mauser of Oberndorf made almost 373,000 before wars end.

This gun with all matching serial numbers and official period stamps is in extremely clean condition with a mirror bore and very light holster wear showing at the muzzle and front face of the slide, exactly as should be expected from a service weapon; it adds just the right amount of legitimate wear. As seen in the photographs, the gun has period correct but mismatched grip panels, just adding a bit of mystery to this overall exceptionally clean example. A Waffenamt marked magazine adds the final touch to this iconic service arm.

P38 examples of this quality are seen very rarely. Don't think about it too long or it will be gone!
