Hammer and trigger in white. Only flaws in metal finish are wear on cylinder (see photos). Original pattern no medallion walnut grips, but these are not priginal. They're in new condition. All marks are sharp. ".38 Smith & Wesson Special and U. S. Cartridges" on left of barrel. Dates on top of barrel all sharp and clear. Puzzling is that last patent date is in 1903, while production of this revolver reportedly ended in 1902. It can't be a replacement barrel, though, because the 1902's that came after all had a lug ahead of the ejector rod, which this 1899 does not. Supica (p.137) describes this model as a "pre-5 screw four screw", which it is. It is Smith's first swing-out cylinder in .38 Special. Purchaser pays $50 shipping. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
